Let Them Listen.

Thousands of pairs of ears are dying to rock out to Madonna, to have the
privelege of knowing the inside-outs of the beats of their favorite
classical composers and modern-day disc jockeys. Rather than having their
wishes fulfilled, to be filled with symphonic joy, they are violently
denied and filled rather with lead.

Can you imagine a day without listening to music? ... or at least, without
the right to listen to music. This is far beyond the mandations against
free music via the internet, far beyond any copyright lawsuits, far beyond
moral censorship as it exists in the United States-- In Afghanistan today,
the government believes it is a rightful punishment to jail, beat, kill
musicians and their patrons. To steal musical instruments and burn them.
In music's place, the only music allowed to be broadcast in Afghanistan
today: the Taliban chants. Music is believed to be a very powerful,
uplifting, and convincing means of expression and the Taliban deems that
only they should have access to it.

It is that powerful. Music is so powerful that an entire government bans
it out of fear that the power of music will cycle riots and cause a
revolution. A revolution must occur. Music must be heard.

A group of students, two of us so far, is interested in starting an
organization on campus to advocate this cause, to fight with all of our
mite and power to stop music censorship as it exists intensely in
Afghanistan and other countries abroad. We are currently forming a bond
with an organization in Denmark called FREEMUSE, an international advocacy
organization devoted entirely to providing assistance to musicians and
listeners who have their right to listen and sing denied.

If you or any of your friends are interested in being a part of our
organization, we are currently in the formation processes. Please email me
directly or to our organization's account at:

Email us because music is a right, not a priveledge.
The answer, not the problem.
